Small Works, Great Wonders
|
Entry Guidelines
Small Works, Great Wonders is an art event created to recognize
emerging artists and collectors of fine art by showcasing paintings
and sculpture of the highest quality. The sale is in keeping with
the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum's long standing
commitment to the recognition and exhibition of outstanding contemporary
Western art.
Artists wishing to be considered for Small Works, Great Wonders®
must apply using our NEW ONLINE SUBMISSION PROCESS.
Application criteria and submission process:
1. Upload no more than four (4) digital images representing
the best and most recent examples of your artwork to the Museum's
FTP site (instructions below).
2. Images must be of professional quality without background
distractions.
3. Each image must be saved in JPG format at a maximum resolution
of 150 dpi.
4. Title each image file with your last name and successive
numbers only [for example: Jones1.jpg.].
FTP INSTRUCTIONS:
Save your images to your desktop. Click on START, then click
on RUN
Type: ftp.nationalcowboymuseum.org then click on OK. You will
be prompted for a login name and password.
Login: ncmftp
Password: cowboy (case sensitive)
(MAC users may need to download a free software program called
Fetch to access the FTP site)
Drag your images from yur desktop into the SWGW folder on the
FTP site.
If you experience FTP problems, you may email your images (under
10MB) to Susan
Patterson.
5. Once images are uploaded, complete the
Entry Form - incomplete forms will not be considered.
Entries may be submitted online to the National Cowboy &
Western Heritage Museum between January 15 and June 15 of the
current year to be considered for exhibition.
Selection will be made by July 15 and applicants will be notified
of their status by email. If selected, artists must abide by entry
guidelines for Small Works, Great Wonders detailed below.
Guidelines for artworks exhibited in Small Works, Great Wonders
1. Each invited artist may submit up to two works.
2. Two-dimensional artwork must be no larger than 16 x 20 inches,
unframed.
3. Two-dimensional artwork must be framed and ready to hang when
sent to the Museum.
4. Three-dimensional artists may send two unique pieces or, one
sculpture with one additional casting, which must arrive prior
to sale.
5. Sculpture must be no larger than 20 x 20 x 20 inches.
6. Western art, with winter, wildlife, landscape, Christmas and
holiday themes are preferred.
7. Submissions must have been created within the last two years
and not previously exhibited at the National Cowboy Museum.
8. Art will be sold at price set by artist, with a 25% commission
to Museum.
9. Artwork purchased may be taken by buyers the night of sale.
