The annual workshops held at the Museum for 2010 will focus on the leather working.
On February 16-19, 2010, the Museum, in cooperation with the Traditional Cowboy
Arts Association, presents "Leather Carving and Floral Layout." This workshop for
all levels of ability will be led by TCAA saddlemakers Chuck Stormes and Rick Bean.
Enrollment for this workshop is limited and will fill up quickly.
During the week prior to the 2010 TCAA exhibition and sale, September 21-24, a unique
workshop, "Traditional Leather Casemaking: Molding, Hand Sewing and Finishing,"
will be led by French master casemaker and saddlemaker Jean Luc Parisot and TCAA
members Cary Schwarz and Pedro Pedrini. This opportunity is an outgrowth of the
sabbatical Schwarz and Pedrini took in March 2009, to study with Parisot in his
saddle shop at the Ecole Nationale d' Equitation, Saumur, France. This is a famous
riding academy and home to the French Cavalry Academy. Enrollment for this once-in-a-lifetime
workshop is limited and a wonderful opportunity for saddlemakers to improve their
hand sewing technique.
Advanced reservations are required for workshops. For further information and enrollment
call (405) 478-2250, Ext. 219.
Enrollment is $400.00.
